Absolute Insight EMD fund dropped from Adviser Centre recommended list after challenging year

Heightened difficulty in executing long and short positions

The Absolute Insight Emerging Market Debt fund has been removed from The Adviser Centre's recommended list after the manager revealed issues with running the strategy.

The Adviser Centre said the fund's manager, Colm McDonagh, was finding it difficult to allocate the short positions associated with absolute return mandates due to "cost and efficiency issues". In a note on The Adviser Centre's website, the research firm said: "We have taken this action after discussions with the manager, Colm McDonagh, about the challenges of running an absolute return mandate in this asset class.  "In particular, he noted that the implementation of short positions can be imperfect because of cost and efficiency issues.
