Sanford DeLand recruits Franklin Templeton's Brotherston as CEO

Sanford DeLand Asset Management (SDL) has hired Alex Brotherston, previously UK retail sales director at Franklin Templeton, as chief executive officer.

He will take on his new role on 1 April after spending 15 years at Rensburg Fund Management, which was acquired by Franklin Templeton in 2011 leading to Brotherston taking the UK sales director role. SDL currently houses the £660m UK Buffettology fund, run by founder of SDL and CIO Keith Ashworth-Lord, and the Free Spirit fund, managed by ex-Schroders manager Rosemary Banyard. Last year, Ashworth-Lord told Investment Week the Buffettology fund had seen assets soar from £100m at the start of 2017 amid a period of extremely negative sentiment towards the UK, and he was looking to add to...
