Joint senior partner Charles Plowden talks about how he has turned around the Monks trust, his views on President Donald Trump's policies, and why looking at averages for actively-managed funds is not helpful.

Charles Plowden has worked at Baillie Gifford for more than 30 years and has been joint senior partner for the past ten. He manages a number of vehicles, including the £1.4bn Monks investment trust which he has turned around since taking over as lead manager in March 2015, making it one of the top performing investment companies in the UK. He is supported by Spencer Adair and Malcolm MacColl as deputy managers on the trust. Over two years, Monks is up 51% versus 29% for the AIC Global sector.
